Terms of Service
Effective Date: April 3, 2026 — Last Updated: April 3, 2026
Important: Modulus DFH is an AI-powered informational tool. It is not a licensed engineering service, code consulting firm, or manufacturer representative. All output must be independently verified by a qualified professional before use in any construction document, specification, or submittal.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Modulus DFH ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
2. Description of Service
Modulus DFH is an AI-powered specification assistant for commercial door, frame, and hardware professionals. The Service provides information, product references, cross-references, and building code guidance based on indexed manufacturer documentation, industry standards, and building codes.
The Service is currently offered as a beta product and is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
3. Disclaimer of Accuracy
Critical Disclaimer: The information provided by Modulus DFH is generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information. Specifically:
- Product specifications may not reflect current manufacturer catalogs, pricing, availability, or product changes. Manufacturers update catalogs, discontinue products, and revise specifications without notice.
- Building code references (IBC, NFPA 80, NFPA 101, ADA, state and local amendments) are provided for informational purposes only. Codes are adopted and amended differently by each jurisdiction. Always verify with the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
- Product cross-references and equivalency suggestions are approximate. No two products from different manufacturers are identical. The user is responsible for verifying that any substituted product meets the project requirements, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Hardware set recommendations are suggestions based on general industry practice. They do not constitute a professional specification and may not account for all project-specific conditions, local amendments, or AHJ requirements.
- Fire-rated assembly information must always be verified against current UL listings, manufacturer installation instructions, and NFPA 80 requirements. Incorrect fire door hardware can create life safety hazards.
4. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Modulus DFH, its owners, operators, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with the use of the Service, including but not limited to:
- Errors or omissions in product specifications, building code references, or hardware recommendations
- Damages resulting from reliance on information provided by the Service
- Costs associated with incorrect product specification, procurement, installation, or code compliance failures
- Personal injury, property damage, or any loss arising from the use of information provided by the Service in construction, specification, or design activities
- Loss of business, revenue, or anticipated savings
The Service is an informational tool. The user assumes all risk associated with the use of any information provided by the Service in professional activities.
5. Professional Responsibility
Users of Modulus DFH acknowledge that:
- The Service does not replace the professional judgment of a qualified door hardware consultant (AHC/EHC), architect, engineer, or code official
- All specifications, product selections, and code interpretations must be reviewed and approved by a qualified professional before inclusion in construction documents
- The user is solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of any specification, submittal, or construction document that incorporates information from the Service
- Fire-rated, life safety, and accessibility-related hardware decisions require particular care and professional review
6. Intellectual Property
Product names, series numbers, and manufacturer information referenced by the Service are the trademarks and intellectual property of their respective manufacturers. Modulus DFH is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any hardware manufacturer unless explicitly stated.
The Service indexes publicly available manufacturer documentation for informational purposes. All product data remains the property of the respective manufacturers.
7. User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to scrape, copy, or systematically extract data from the Service
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense access to the Service or its output
- Misrepresent the Service's output as an official manufacturer specification, engineering recommendation, or code interpretation
- Use automated tools to access the Service in a manner that degrades performance for other users
8. Data and Privacy
Questions submitted to the Service may be processed by third-party AI providers (Anthropic) to generate responses. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your queries are transmitted to these providers. Do not submit confidential project information, proprietary pricing, or personal data through the Service.
We may collect anonymous usage data (query topics, feature usage, error rates) to improve the Service. We do not sell user data to third parties.
9. Beta Product
The Service is currently in beta. This means:
- Features may change, be added, or be removed without notice
- The Service may experience downtime or interruptions
- Data coverage may be incomplete for certain manufacturers, product lines, or jurisdictions
- We may terminate the beta program at any time
10. Indemnification
